Eat, Pray, Love: A Post of Resolution

I love to eat.  More than most people I know.  And unfortunately, I also like junk food.  However, the new school year is starting, which in my eyes, is somewhat of a new beginning.  I have an herb garden, that produces deliciously tasting and smelling herbs, and I just love to cook with them.  However, I think I need to do a better job incorporating more fresh fruits and veggies.  Now that my local farmer's market is back up and running, I'm thinking of trying to pick one day each week that I run by there to pick out produce for the week.  Ultimate goal = a healthier family.

Praying has been a part of my life since I was old enough to think.  Justin and I really enjoy saying our prayers together each night, but I don't feel like I express my thankfulness enough.  I want to do a better job of openly thanking God for what he has blessed me with, and I want that thankfulness and conversation with God to be modeled for Perry.

Justin and I have also been praying relentlessly about our adoption.  Our "plan" is to turn in our adoption application in November of 2011.  Although it is still a little over a year away, we are getting very excited!!  With all things adoption, many of the programs are going through lots of different changes, so we are keeping a very open mind about everything.  Being the control freak that I am, our prayer lately has been that God will help me stop trying to "find" our child, but allow Him to guide us to her.

Today was Meet-the-Teacher day at school, and I have already fallen in love with my students.  They seem so sweet and genuinely excited to learn and be in first grade.  I pray that I will be a safe haven for my students when they've had a bad day at home.  I pray that they will enjoy coming to school and know that Mrs. Murphree truly loves them.

I also pray that Justin, Perry, and the rest of my family will always know how much they are loved by me. I know my family, above anyone else, should get the very best of my time, energy, and attitude.  Unfortunately, I have the habit of giving them the opposite, knowing that they will forgive me in the end, because after all, we're family.  I truly pray that I will give my best to those I love the most!

It may not be New Year's, but I think resolutions should be made when one sees fit!
