New Year's Resolutions

I’ve never been one to really be good at keeping New Year’s resolutions (along with the rest of all Americans, I suppose.) However, this year (along with the rest of all Americans, I suppose) I vow to do my very best to fulfill these goals for myself.

I think one of the biggest reasons I have confidence that I will do better this year is simply because of the ‘need’ for these resolutions to become a reality. I think all three will make me a better person and allow me to enjoy my life to the fullest!

My first and most important resolution is to read through the entire Bible this year. I am VERY excited about this challenge I have set before myself. It is always something I had planned to do at some point in my life, but I think having a baby has made me realize the importance of strengthening my relationship with God. Justin and I both want to set a good example of Faith and Christianity for Perry and our future children.

I have found a program online that I think will be easy for me to follow. It outlines the Bible either chronologically or by selecting a passage of scripture from each the Old and New Testament, and then a selection from Psalms and Proverbs, as well (and also a commentary for each passage). I have chosen the latter because I felt it gave more of a variety of scripture for each day. This particular website also has the scripture online. Should I not have my Bible beside me, I can easily read the scripture on my Iphone. If you want to join along with me, you can go to www.oneyearbibleonline.com.

Resolution number two: Operation Organization. My, oh my, do I lose things ALL THE TIME! I feel like I waste so much of my life simply looking. So, I am aiming to organize my life and have a spot for everything. And get rid of those things that don’t have a home. If it hasn’t been used in a year= Gone! If it hasn’t been worn in a year= Gone! If it doesn’t fit but I truly love it…. It’s going in the back of the closet in hopes that resolution number three works!! ;)

My third resolution is to be healthier. I am aiming to eat fast food less, be more active, and cook healthier foods. I want Perry to be conscious of what he is eating and know that his diet is going to keep him healthy, smart, and strong, and I know that Justin and I need to model this healthy lifestyle for him. I am super excited about this goal because two of my sweet friends Mary Louis and Briana have added a recipe spot on their blogs. I can’t wait to try out some of their yummy and healthy dishes. They have also inspired me to add a recipe section to my blog. You’ll find some of my favorites under Brooke’s Best Bites. (I’m not guaranteeing they are ALL going to be figure friendly, but I will do my best!)

My friend Kristi and I have also decided we are going to get together Monday-Thursday to do yoga. I am tremendously excited about this one because not only do I love yoga, but I LOVE Kristi. I wish you all could know her. She’s so genuine and just absolutely delightful and always has me giggling. I just hope we are disciplined enough to use our time doing the pretzel and not lounged up on the couch eating pretzels…. With us, it could go both ways… I just plan on continuing to remind myself that come June, this body has got to be stuffed into a bikini. ( And I’d rather people not think Shamu escaped from Sea World!!)

I need to work on healtier recipes, too!

How did you (and Briana) add those links at the top of the page? I tried to figure it out when I added my recipe blog but I am so computer illiterate!

I hope I can explain this okay...I'm still not blogger savy, but I'm trying. :) If you go to the design mode and click "add a gadget," then click on "pages." Then, you can add it and close it out. Then, to actually get "stuff" on the bar, you have to go to 'new post' and click 'edit pages.' Then, click on new page and you can add whatever subject you like. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how to format your pages the way I want them in my head. I'm still working on that. Also, I can't figure out how to make my pages bar cute like Briana's. I like how hers are on a blue strip, whereas mine are just there and blah! Let me know if that helps!! :) Happy Wednesday!
