Hey Brooke! Your email was blocked so I couldnt reply to the comment you left on my blog, but I wanted to let you know I DID shoot those flowers with a macro lens, on a tripod, at f/22 and about 1 second exposures. The flower was in a vase in my house and there wasn't much light! I did a straight black and white processing and then added a texture that had a brownish tint. Hope this helps!

I completely agree. I think that is what I love about black & white photography. It eliminates all the distractions & pulls the viewer in to the subject in a deeper way.
