Take Me Out to {Perry's} Ballgame!

Perry's team was kinda the underdog team of the bunch this year.  And we consider that pretty stinkin' lucky because aren't the littlest littles the absolute cutest to watch sift dirt through their gloves pick flowers stand there and watch the ball roll by play?

Like, ever?!

So to up our anty, somebody decided these little giants needed some war paint for the last game.

...Maybe we shoulda tried the scare tactic back in March...

It might not have made too much of a dent in the other team's confidence, but I have to say I think it gave our little guy's a little pep in their step.  Despite still feeling a little puny from his four day sickness over the weekend, Pman totally rocked his last game.  Two AWESOME stops at third base and a rockstar hit to the outfield, along with an RBI or two.

But no matter the number of wins or losses, a little league baseball uniform means precious little league baseball pics.

And that, my friend, makes for an AWESOME season.

{Super} JackCruz

 Because when life gives you a child who wants to be naked as much as he does, you throw a cape and some 'goggles' on him and start snapping.

Happy {Eighth} Anniversary

Today marks eight years since two babies stood at an alter before God, friends, and family and said, "Yes" to forever.

And that was the very best decision I have ever made.

I am one that believes that you can find love with more than one person on this planet.  But, I don't believe everyone finds love with their best friend.  And that, I have been lucky enough to do.

We are just alike enough to make things compatible, and just different enough to keep things interesting.

Some of my favorite things about him:

He loves cheese dip as much as much as I do
He has a passion for the fatherless
He texts me from the outfield
He tells me I'm beautiful and he couldn't love anyone more regularly
He throws our boys up in the air and tickles them like crazy
He can't go to the Humane Society without coming home with a dog
& He makes the BEST omelets on the planet

This guy is awesome and I'm forever grateful that He's mine and I am his.

*My biggest regret from our wedding day is not purchasing more photo prints.  We have a gorgeous photo book with hundreds of pictures in it, but very few to actually frame for around our house or to scan in for a blog post.  So, I just take blurry Iphone pics of the ones we do have. ;)*

{thankful for}
one day more

Slaying {Dragons}

"Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist.  Children already know that dragons exist.  Fairy tales tell children that dragons can be killed."  ~G.K. Chesterton

I love going back through my Bible and reading the notes I took during specific times or seasons I have been through and really reflecting on what God was trying to show me then and figuring out how that same principle or lesson could apply to my life today.

Recently, I have been going back to a passage I studied at an adoption conference a little over a year ago.  In Exodus 33: 7-11 we are told about Moses entering into The Tent of the Meeting to speak with God.  While God was meeting with Moses, a pillar of cloud would come down upon the tent and settle at its entrance.  We see that when the meeting was finished, his young aide Joshua would watch Moses exit the tent and would remain there to soak up the holiness.  He would watch Moses to see how he responded and how his actions would reflect the knowledge he had learned.

There are so many things to take away from these few verses, yet what has just been resounding in my heart is that Joshua watched Moses.

I think it is so very important to be mindful that our children are watching us go into The Tent of the Meeting with Our Lord.  And not only are they watching the defining moments in our lives, but they are witnessing our everyday and ordinary.  They are watching to see how we will respond to His orders and teachings.  They are watching to see how we will react when things don't quite go our way.  They are watching to see if we view ourselves as worthy and use our talents gifted from Him.  They are watching to see if we treat others with kindness, mercy, and grace.

They are watching.  They want to see how we will respond.

And they will internalize what they see and become what we teach.

In mothering little boys, one area in particular that I feel so very important to model for them is that with God, all things are possible.   {Matthew 19:26}

When things are tricky, I want them to see their Momma persevere and put her faith in our Savior.  When things look grim, I want them to see their Momma rally with hope and prayer.  When things are clearly unfair, I want them to see their Momma seeking justice for the broken and finding peace in the fact that this world is not our home.  I want them to see their Momma overcoming fear, trials, and tribulations simply by knowing and having a relationship with The One who has already conquered all these things.

I want them to see their Momma slay some dragons.

And I want them to know that they can do it too.
